Preparing Art:

What file types are acceptable?

Please submit the following file formats only: EPS, JPG and PDF (single page)

Please make sure your artwork size is the same exact size of your order. Also do not include any bleed or crop marks.

How can I ensure the best quality of my design?

We suggest 150 dpi resolution at 100% of the final print size.

Should I include any fonts with my files?

  1. Instead, please ensure that all fonts are outlined prior to file sent. If you are using Photoshop, please provide flattened file only.

Do I need bleed or crop marks for my files?

No bleed or crop marks are needed. Make sure your artwork match the size requested on the order. We are not responsible for crop marks or registration printed.

My artwork file contains transparency will it print accurately?

No, it is always best to flatten any file you send to A-List Signs & Banners. We consider flattening transparency part of basic file setup and will not check for this issue.

Will A-List Signs & Banners print borders?

You may include borders in your artwork, but we do not recommend it. Borders may vary from print to print making exact cuts very difficult. We will not reprint an order with borders of varying widths.

What settings should I create my PDF in Adobe Illustrator?

For Illustrator CS2 and above it is recommended to use the “High Quality Print” preset.

Color Matching:

Does A-List Signs & Banners color match?

We do not color match. Files are printed as is and A-List Signs and Banners will not be liable for color matches. We will not reprint products based on color issues. We highly recommend ordering a first article proof for color sensitive projects.

How can I guarantee color accuracy?

It is impossible to guarantee 100% color accuracy. However, you can maximize color quality by ensuring that all submitted files are in CMYK color and that the correct color calibration is set for the desired color match. When these four inks (known as CMYK) are combined, they can produce millions of different colors. Changing the percentage (screen) of one ink can dramatically affect the color. Black (K), the fourth process ink, is often used to darken the colors created by the other three process colors CMY.

When color sensitivity is critical, A-List Signs & Banners recommends that you order a first article color proof. First articles are used to help you make a better decision before proceeding with the full project. A first article, which can be ordered for most products, is the only way to ensure the color accuracy for your print job.

What if I want to create a solid black area?

When you want an area of solid black within a file, 100% black (K) will not result in a solid, saturated black. You should use rich black, which is made by mixing other colors of ink with black ink to produce a much darker, deeper black on printers than can be achieved by using black ink alone. To create rich black on products printed by A-List Signs & Banners your CMYK calibration values must be 40% Cyan (C), 40% Magenta (M), 30% Yellow (Y), and 100% Black (K).

Do you print using any RGB or Pantone colors?

We only print 4-color process (CMYK). If you are using RGB or Pantone colors, please have them converted to CMYK process colors prior to file sent.

Will my finished print match what I see on my monitor?

We cannot guarantee that the color of your artwork printed on our printers will match that seen on your monitor or printed via any other method.
